How to Set Up Your Yoto Player Before Christmas Morning 🎄✨
So, you’ve done the hard part: you’ve bought the Yoto Player, snagged some Black Friday deals 🛍️, or just decided this is the gift for your kids this Christmas 🎁. Fantastic! But before you wrap it up and put it under the tree 🎄, let me stop you right there—there are a few things you need to do to make sure Christmas morning is stress-free and magical. ✨
Trust me, you’ll thank yourself when you’re not stuck dealing with setup while your excited little ones eagerly wait to play. Let me take you through the step-by-step process to get your Yoto Player ready. My name’s Tara—OT, self-confessed Type A, and Yoto superfan 💕—and I’m here to make life a little easier for parents like you. Let’s dive in! 🎧
*not yet an affiliate marketer as I can’t work it all out. I will update and make it clear if that changes!
Step 1: Download the Yoto App 📲
Before you even open the box, make sure you’ve got the Yoto app installed on your phone 📱. This is where all the magic happens—you’ll use it to link the Yoto Player to your Wi-Fi, manage settings, and even create custom cards 🎶. You can find the app on both the App Store and Google Play.
Step 2: Open the Box Carefully ✂️📦
Carefully open the box by cutting the little plastic stickers with scissors or a sharp knife. While your kids probably won’t notice if the box is a bit rough, you’ll know—and you might want it looking pristine for photos 📸. Gently slide out the cardboard and remove the Yoto Player.
Step 3: Charge the Yoto Player 🔌⚡
Although the Yoto Player comes pre-charged, it’s a good idea to give it a full charge before setting it up. Plug it in and let it charge while you get ready for the next steps. 🕒
Step 4: Connect to Wi-Fi 🌐📡
Follow the easy instructions provided by Yoto to connect the player to your home Wi-Fi. (Pro tip: You’ll need the app for this!) This step is essential for downloading all the audio content from the cards you’ve purchased. I’ll link Yoto’s detailed setup guide here to make it even easier. 🎛️
Step 5: Download the Content 💾🎶
This is a passive process, just plug in and leave on charge and the player will download the content. You can watch in the app if you feel the need (it will say ’10 of 15 downloaded’). The content is actually stored on the player so this step is CRITICAL. The cards act as a ‘press play’ to trigger the content from the player, so it needs time to download. ▶️
Step 6: Prepare Any Custom Cards ✏️🎨
If you’re planning to make your own Yoto cards, allow extra time for this step. Creating custom cards can take an evening, but it’s well worth it. Check out my full guide on How to Make Yoto Cards for detailed instructions. 🖍️
Step 7: Wrap It Up and Store the Cards 🎁📂
Once everything is charged, downloaded, and ready to go, it’s time to repackage the Yoto Player for wrapping 🎀. If you’ve purchased additional cards, consider storing them in a zip-lock bag or library sleeve to keep them organized. Cards are an investment (#pricey!)💸, and it’s a good idea to set up a system from day one—whether it’s a snap-lock bag, an Officeworks file, or Yoto’s own card storage solutions. Check out my other Yoto blogs for pictures of how we store ours!
Bonus Tips for Christmas Day 🎄✨
- For Younger Kids: Pre-think about your organisation system and have that ready for the day. So right from the get-go you’ve got how the cards will be managed (and you aren’t then stressed about loosing them!). 📚I’ll post some links on how I store mine on my instagram – embedding videos onto the blog is to tricky!
- Have Backup Power Ready: While the player should be fully charged, it never hurts to have a power bank or plug nearby in case they can’t stop playing with their new favorite gift. 🔋
Conclusion
The last thing any parent wants to be doing on Christmas morning is fumbling with tech setup while their kids wait impatiently. By spending just 30 minutes beforehand (or a bit longer if you’re making custom cards), you can have your Yoto Player ready to go the moment it’s unwrapped. 🎉
Work smarter, not harder—and enjoy a calm and joyful holiday morning! 🎅 If you’re looking for more tips, check out my blog seeing as you are already here!
